Hummingbird at Bellavista

By June we were back in Quito and travelled up to the Cloud Forest for a couple of nights. The hummingbirds were incredible. We then travelled into the mountains - Antisana - where we stayed overnight. There were many condor gliding overhead, caracaras feeding on the ground, a wolf/fox with a cub very close, a group of Ecuadorian cowboys heading off to look for some cattle and so many other highlights.
A stop off for a night at Lima was interesting, with a quick visit around the city onboard a 'Mirabus' tour. The return taxi took two hours in the peak-hour traffic - even frustrating for our taxi driver. Still he was happy with the little bit of extra payment we gave him. Then it was off home via Santiago with lovely sunny days (although cooler) in Leigh.
