Native pigeon in kowhai tree
A few visitors booked to stay in our bed and breakfast room this month despite it being mid winter. Most are coming to enjoy a gig at the Sawmill Cafe and to have a well-needed winter break. Quite a bit of rain and wind, followed by fog and also a bit of sun. The birds have been having a great time in our garden with lots of silvereyes and the usual fantails, tui, warblers etc. A native pigeon sat in our kowhai tree feeding on the leaves. So close I could have reached out and touched it. No fear and I wonder if it has come over from Little Barrier looking for more food. Also many kaka flying overhead.
